Did Harry Redknapp really run over his wife?
The 2016 Car Accident
In 2016, Harry Redknapp accidentally ran over his wife Sandra. She got out of their vehicle and waited to cross the road. Believing she had already crossed, he moved the car forward and knocked her over. Sandra suffered a serious ankle injury and required surgery, but eventually recovered. Harry noted the incident was witnessed by their granddaughter, who was on a nearby bus, making the episode especially distressing for the family. Yahoo News UK reported the gruesome details from his interviews.
This incident is separate from Harry’s much earlier serious road crash in 1990, in which four people died. Harry sustained major injuries and subsequently lost his sense of smell. Mirror.co.uk documented both events.
The 2018 Sepsis Scare
Sandra suffered a life-threatening sepsis infection in 2018, shortly before Harry entered the I’m a Celebrity jungle. Harry initially considered withdrawing from the programme because of her condition, but went ahead after being allowed to see her before entering. He later supported sepsis-awareness work with the UK Sepsis Trust after her recovery, describing the illness as a terrifying experience in an interview with AOL.
Did Sandra Redknapp receive death threats?
No credible source has confirmed that Sandra Redknapp herself received death threats. The phrase may relate to a separate story involving Harry or another public figure, and it should not be treated as a confirmed part of her biography without specific, verified reporting.
Important Fact-Checking Note
While the car accident is a well-documented event verified through multiple interviews with Harry Redknapp, the widely circulated claim that Sandra received death threats during his I’m a Celebrity appearance is not supported by primary sources. Much of the online information surrounding Sandra involves unverified speculation.
Context: Two Separate Accidents
Harry Redknapp’s accidental running over of Sandra’s foot in 2016 is a distinct event from his own near-fatal car crash in 1990, which claimed four lives. Conflating these two incidents is a common error in online summaries of their life together.

Sandra is often compared to actresses and modern WAGs, a trend examined in our piece: Isla Fisher: Actress and Author.
Clarifying Molly Redknapp and Victoria Lampard
Molly Redknapp is Jamie Redknapp’s daughter, making her the granddaughter of Harry and Sandra. She is not their daughter. Victoria Lampard has no reliable connection to Sandra Redknapp established in available sources, despite being part of the associated search queries.

What makes Sandra Redknapp a figure of public fascination?
Sandra Redknapp represents what some describe as the “Mystery WAG.” In an age of influencer-driven celebrity culture where partners of sports stars often have highly visible social media presences, Sandra’s private nature creates a curiosity vacuum. This vacuum is often filled by viral stories and speculative headlines.
The “run over” story combines a shocking incident with a counter-narrative of a loving, enduring marriage, making it evergreen content for tabloids. Simultaneously, keyword data shows users actively trying to place her face, associating her with younger celebrities. This creates high-volume “comparison” searches that lack a definitive answer. Her enduring image contrasts sharply with the modern influencer culture described in Football WAGs: Then and Now.
