Transparency is central to how PressOrbit earns trust. This page explains where our information comes from, how we judge whether a source is reliable, and which independent publications we read, reference or partner with. It is maintained by the editorial team and reviewed regularly.

PressOrbit is published by PressOrbit Media Ltd. Our reporting prioritises primary evidence — official statistics, regulators, public bodies, company filings, named experts and original documents — supported by reputable secondary coverage.

Our sourcing principles

• Primary sources first. Wherever possible we link to the original document, dataset or statement.
• Attribution. Key claims, figures and dates are attributed to a named, checkable source.
• Independence. Editorial decisions are made by our editors; commercial relationships never determine our conclusions.
• Currency. We date material that can change and review it when the facts move.
• Correction over ego. When we are wrong, we fix it promptly and say so.

How we evaluate a source

1. Authority – is the organisation or author positioned to know?
2. Independence – who funds or owns it, and could that bias the claim?
3. Evidence – is the claim backed by data, documents or first-hand reporting?
4. Track record – does the source have a history of accuracy and corrections?
5. Corroboration – can the key facts be confirmed by an independent source?

Primary & official sources we rely on

For UK news, policy, money, media and public-affairs coverage, these official and regulatory bodies are among the sources we cite most often.

Partner & reference publications

Alongside primary sources, we monitor and occasionally collaborate with a number of independent UK news, business and reference sites. Each card notes what we typically reference it for.

Outbound links & disclosure

External links are provided for transparency and to help readers verify information. A link is not an endorsement of everything a site publishes. We do not accept payment in exchange for editorial links, and any affiliate or sponsored content is labelled clearly and kept separate from editorial judgement.

Fact-checking & verification

Every article passes through editorial review and a fact-checking stage. Key claims, figures and dates are verified against the primary and reputable secondary sources described above before publication, and articles are updated when the underlying facts change.
